TRYOUT FEE

$125 for all returning ASU players and new candidates. The cost of the tryout will be increased to $150 after September 1st.  Make checks payable to Sun Devil Hockey Blueliner Club. Our goal is to position the ASU program as a perennial powerhouse in the ACHA (American Collegiate Hockey Association) and also to win a national championship.

There are two main categories of collegiate hockey in the United States: The NCAA and the ACHA. Within the NCAA, there are two competitive levels: Division I and Division III. Division I is the most competitive. The hockey programs that compete at the Division I/III levels are funded by their schools and, in turn, are able to offer their players financial support or athletic scholarships.

ANNUAL FEE

The ASU Hockey Program is a Club sport. We offer a Division I program and are participating members of ACHA - American Collegiate Hockey Association (see ACHA link). There are specific eligibility rules to which each player is required to adhere in order to maintain their active status on the ASU Hockey Team.

The basic academic rule states that each player must maintain at least a 2.0 GPA, be a full-time undergraduate student (12 units) and pass a minimum of nine (9) credits each semester. It is also required that each player complete 24 units from the previous school year to be eligible to play in the fall of the following year.

ASU Hockey is a pay-to-play (fee) Club sport. Arizona State University does not financially support us. We have several sources of revenue, including corporate sponsors, fundraisers, clothing sales, gate receipts and program ad sales. At this point, it is not enough to offset the team's expenses that include, but are not limited to, equipment, travel and lodging and ice time.

This year's fee will be approximately* $2,800 and must be paid before the first team practice. (*The final amount will be determined after our budgets are computed.)

If you are still interested in attending ASU and being a part of our program, please complete the Player Profile Form and return it directly to me by mail ASAP. Please be sure to include your correct address, phone number and e-mail address.
